The practice of reciting specific verses, supplications or incantations (in case of evil) to summon and invoke jinn, ghosts, spirits, or entities which can be good or evil. These are often performed by individuals who undergo thorough practice over a period of time. The person who does these acts is referred to as an A’amil. A good A’amil is a spiritual healer who cures the people from black magic, jinns and evil things through the recitation of the Quranic verses, prayers mentioned in the ahadith and the teachings of the Muslim saints. An evil A’amil is a servant of the devil, he/she is a non-Muslim who seeks help from Satan and his followers by reciting incantations and indulging in gruesome acts, and tries to gain insight into hidden states and fulfill the desires of those seeking their assistance against some monetary payment.
